In this, the first presentation Sarah presents and considers the differences in paediatric patients and do children feel pain? She covers some of the physiology and perception of pain in children and why we should be managing their pain effectively. Sarah also considers the assessment of acute pain in children as recommended by the key guidelines, “The Recognition and Assessment of Acute Pain in Children”.
Children experience pain and we need to ensure that their pain is managed effectively. We need to dispel the myths surrounding pain in babies and ensure that we assess pain effectively using the recommended tools.
