This is the third video in a series of 3 case studies. Owen Hughes is a Consultant, Counseling Psychologist at the Pain and Fatigue Management Centre, Bronllys, Brecon. Wales. He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Cardiff University.
In this third video, Owen examines the patient’s low mood and explores some of the reasons. The discussion identifies that there is a reduction in the patient’s quality of life. Owen focuses on this and discusses with the patient, how he can move forward from this. The overall aim is to start small, so that he can see some progress. Owen’s objective is to move the ‘locus of control’ back from the healthcare professional to the patient.
The overall aim is to try and get patients to help themselves and gain back their quality of life.
